Planning, Equipment and Inspections
Use of Biohazardous Materials in your laboratory may impose special requirements on, for example, the air handling, the location of the eye-wash station and autoclave, the type of hood, the need for protective garb. For those with laboratories in the Medical Center, the Hospital Safety Office is responsible for determining those special requirements; for those in campus laboratories, the University Safety and Environmental Affairs Office is the responsible entity. Representatives from the Safety Offices perform training. Departments required to meet regulatory training requirements should contact the applicable Safety Offices in order to make training arrangements. Moreover, these offices conduct initial and annual inspections of laboratories using biohazardous materials to ensure compliance with regulations. You should contact: Medical Center Safety Office at 702-1733. University Facilities Services - Safety and Parking Services at 702-9999 In the case of an emergency, contact the University Police at ext.123 |
